For my lovely dad, from Michelle xxx

My darling dad.  I’m here writing this letter to you the night before your funeral.  I can’t put into words what you have meant and do mean to me. You are a wonderful father, you created, with mum, a safe home, full of love, one where Adrian and I could and did thrive. I remember so many times when you’ve come to my rescue, all my crazy escapades like floating out to sea aged 10 on an inflatable or going to Jersey as a teenager with just £10 spending money for the week. All those nights when you picked me and Karen up from the Dilke Arms disco, usually having to wait outside for some time before we emerged.  You just did it, never complained.  It has been such a joy having children, Ben and Mil, and seeing the massive part you’ve played in their lives, you know just how much they adore you.  You and mum were there for everything: holidays, birthdays, Christmas, bonfire nights, Easter.  Always spending time with them, playing with them and later on, offering guidance to them.  You’ve had such a terrible two years since your amputation, a situation which would have broken most people and yet you’ve dealt with it with fortitude, strength, dignity and humour despite the heartbreak that this has involved for all of us, especially you. I will hold you in my heart for as long as I live.  All my love dad. I know you're with mum now. Michelle xxx
